Some of Ohio’s most beloved first responders have fur, walk on four legs, and serve alongside the men and women who protect our communities every day. From working K9s 🐕🦺 and therapy dogs 💙 to firehouse mascots 🚒, mounted units 🐎, and comfort animals, these partners play a meaningful role in public safety across the state.
The 2026 FUR Responders Photo Challenge is Light Ohio Blue’s way of recognizing and celebrating these incredible animals and the agencies they serve. This challenge highlights the unique bond between first responders and their animal partners while giving the public an opportunity to show their support 🤝.

This photo challenge is open to Ohio public safety agencies that utilize or house an animal in an official capacity.
Eligible animals include law enforcement and fire K9s, firehouse mascots, therapy and comfort animals, mounted units, search and rescue animals, and other agency affiliated animals that support first responders 🐶🐾.
Voting will take place online 🌐 and will be open for a designated period. Each person may vote once per day per photo.
To keep the contest fair, voting uses anti cheat safeguards that monitor voting patterns, including shared internet connections (IP addresses). In large environments such as schools, universities, hospitals, airports, parks, and government buildings, many users may appear to come from the same network. When that happens, additional votes from that shared network may be limited or blocked, which can trigger a message indicating a vote has already been cast.
No. Voting is not limited by individual person. The restriction applies to shared networks, not individuals.
If you are voting from a work, school, or campus network and encounter an issue, try voting from a personal cellular device using mobile data instead of Wi Fi. Votes submitted from personal cellular connections typically register without the shared network restriction.
Removing or significantly loosening safeguards would make it much harder to prevent or detect fraudulent voting, including automated bots or scripted activity.
Light Ohio Blue uses anti cheat safeguards provided by the contest platform to protect fairness and public trust. These safeguards may monitor IP addresses, browser sessions, and voting frequency. Light Ohio Blue reserves the right to monitor voting activity, remove votes deemed suspicious or fraudulent, and disqualify entries if voting manipulation is confirmed.
